IntroductionStarting Line-upPost Season:8 Team LeagueBCFFL Schedule Format:8 Team League
In 1993, the Bayou Cajuns Fantasy Football League (BCFFL) was formed. The league has been based on pure sportmanship among friends and family, love of professional football, and an intense desire to humiliate each other as much as possible. If you are a diehard football fan who is looking for an exciting style of play, then Fantasy Football is for you. It’s a growing hobby that gives people another reason to watch the games and it makes guys feel like they’re more involved.
This is a game to match your football strategy and sports management skills with friends and family. What this unique game allows every football fan to do is to be the owner, general manager, and coach of an FFL team. As the owner, you invest your time and money into a 16 player franchise. As the general manager, you assemble a team of stars and scrubs, making sure you have the right mix of passing, rushing, kicking, and defense. Then as the team’s coach, you have to pick the right starting lineup for that week’s games, making sure that your best players aren’t sitting the bench.
The guidelines for playing in a fantasy football league are very simple. Each fantasy football team drafts 16 players/teams consisting of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers(tight ends), kickers, and defensive teams. Teams go head-to-head each week with the totals from their starting players determined by a pre-defined scoring method. You add up the scoring totals for all of your starting players for that week and the total is your team score. If your total is higher than your opponent’s total for that week, then you earn a victory. The teams with the best conference records at the end of the regular season - just like the NFL - qualify for the playoffs. The BCFFL Super Bowl is actually held during the final weeks of the regular season so that all of the NFL players are eligible for that big game. It’s that easy !!!
As your commissioners, we will be responsible for conducting league business, arbitrating league disputes, recording all draft information, lineups and trades, and providing weekly scoring and standings reports to franchise owners.
We look forward to your participation in the Bayou Cajuns Fantasy Football League.
Draft (D-Day):
All owners will meet once before the NFL regular season for the annual draft. This is the ONLY day we will meet as a group for the year. Draft day will be determined by the commissioner and all owners will be notified as to the date and time to meet. The draft will consist of 16 rounds (8 team/128 selections, 10 teams/160 selections, or 12 teams/192 selections). It will be ordered in a "snake fashion" meaning the order of the first round is reversed in the second round and so on. For instance, in a 12-team league the draft order would be 1 thru 12, with the 12th team having the 1st pick of the second round and going back up in reverse order. In this scenario, the 1st team to pick wouldn’t select again until the 24th pick, but would then start the third round with the 25th selection.
The draft order will be determined in advance of the draft through random drawing from 1 to (8, 10, or 12) for the 1st round. Whoever draws #1 will have the choice of drafting position. It will be a strategic decision since the owner could have the (8th & 9th, 10th & 11th, or 12th and 13th) picks or (1st & 16th, 1st & 20th, or 1st and 24th) picks or anywhere in between. The rest of the league will then pick their draft positions in the order of the draw (again having the ability to choose from the remaining draft positions).
NFL players are acquired during the draft. Once an NFL player has been drafted, he will not be available to any other team. There will be designated time limits for each draft round.
Each owner will be required to provide a name for their fantasy football team and a name for their fantasy football stadium.
BCFFL scoring is based on actual plays made by NFL players each week during the NFL season. Only players listed as starters for each franchise receive points for that franchise. Points are awarded for a variety of methods including player scoring and yardage performance and defensive team scoring and performance.

The BCFFL will obtain game statistics from a reliable stat service provider on the internet (Fantasy League Manager) which will be considered the official league statistics. Mistakes can and sometimes will happen. Owners may appeal any scoring discrepancies. Owners have until the following Sunday to appeal after which cannot be overruled. If a mistake is confirmed, corrections will be applied. Call it "instant replay".
Each week during the season, owners will submit their lineup (8 starters) before Friday at 8pm. If there is a Thursday night game, lineups must be turned in by Wednesday at 8pm. If no lineup is submitted, the Commish assumes no changes are requested and the previous week’s lineup will be used. If it is week #1, the 'Pro Style' offense will be selected and your first quarterback, first two running backs, and so forth that you have selected in the draft will be used.
The owners will be allowed to select one of three types of offensive schemes they would like to run each week. If they feel their running game would benefit against their opponent then they may want to use a wishbone-style offense. If their receiving corps is expected to have a banner week, they may opt to use the west coast offense. If they have a balance attack, then they can use the pro style. The following outlines the various starting lineups that can be used each week.
PRO STYLE
1-Quarterback (QB)
2-Running Backs (RB)
3-Wide Receivers (WR)
1-Kicker (K)
1-Defense Team (DT)WISHBONE

1-Kicker (K)
1-Defense Team (DT)The accumulative points of one team’s starters are matched up against the points of another team’s starters and the end result is either a victory or a defeat.
If the game ends in a tie, the team with the most points from their benched players wins the game. If the game is still tied after the tiebreaker rule, the game is declared a tied game as the final score.
As with real NFL teams, franchise owners can trade a player from one franchise to another. Trades must be finalized and confirmed by the league commissioner in time for the weekly lineup exchange. No trades will be allowed during the last 3 weeks (week 12) for a 8 or 10 team league or (week 11) for a 12 team league of the BCFFL regular season. Franchise owners will not be limited to the number of trades per week.
The trade deadline exists so that mediocre teams cannot give away their talent to a team in contention just to help a buddy. Such an act is collusion and does not serve in the best interest of a fair league. The commissioner and co-commissioner will have the authority to question a potential act of collusion and determine if the trade is null and void. Hopefully, this will never happen.
A franchise owner may also waive a player on his current roster and add a non-roster player from the available players list throughout the season. A non-roster player is one who is not currently on another teams roster. Once a player has been dropped by one team, he becomes a free agent and can be picked up by another team. If two or more owners have selected the same player, the following tie breaker rule to determine who will have first preference will apply:
There will be an attempt to contact the other team(s) prior to Sunday for an optional pickup. If unsuccessful, no transaction will occur and the other team(s) must retain the player waived.
- The team with the worst overall record.
- The team with the worst division record.
- The team with the worst non-division record.
- The team with the least points for.
- The team with the most points against.
Owners will be limited to two (2) transactions per week but only a total of ten (10) transactions per year.
NOTE: The following rule only applies to waivers prior to week #1. If a player is injured during the pre-season, the owner who drafted the injured player has first rights at picking up his replacement. He forfeits his rights after week #1.
For any league format the following rule will apply:
- Conference winners or the team with the best record will have home-field advantage and will be awarded 5 points added to its score.
This format will consist of 2 conferences and 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs. Both conference champions will automatically advance to the playoffs. The next two teams of the remaining 6 teams with the best won/loss record make the playoffs. Weeks 15 and 16 of the NFL season will be designated for the BCFFL playoffs. Week 17 of the NFL will not be played by the BCFFL.
In week 15, the conference winner with the 1st best W/L record (C1) will play against the wildcard team with the 2nd best W/L record (W2), and the conference winner with the 2nd best W/L record (C2) will play against the wildcard team with the 1st best W/L record (W1).
In week 16, the winners of week 15 will play in the BCFFL Super Bowl game.

This format will consist of 2 conferences and 5 teams will qualify for the playoffs. Both conference champions will automatically advance to the playoffs. The next three teams of the remaining 8 teams with the best won/loss record make the playoffs. Weeks 14, 15 and 16 of the NFL season will be designated for the BCFFL playoffs. In week 15:
If W3 defeats C3 then the conference winner with the 1st best W/L record (C1) will play against W3 and the conference winner with the 2nd best W/L record (C2) will play against the winner between W1 and W2.

If two or more teams are tied for a conference champion or wildcard position after the regular season, the following tie-breaker rule will be used:
- Head-to-head play against just the teams tied.
If team #1 is 0-2 against team #2 and 1-1 against team #3, then team #1 is 1-3.
If team #2 is 2-0 against team #1 and 1-1 against team #3, then team #2 is 3-1.
If team #3 is 1-1 against team #1 and 1-1 against team #2, then team #3 is 2-2. Team #2 wins by tie-breaker rule #1.- Highest total points scored for the season against all teams in the league.
- Least total points allowed for the season against all teams in the league.
BCFFL Schedule FormatEach team plays every other team twice for a total of 14 weeks in the regular season. That leaves weeks 15 and 16 for the fantasy playoff and super bowl.

Conclusion:Most situations that will occur during the regular season will be covered in these rules. However, issues may arise which will not be applicable to a specific rule. When this happens, all disputes/questions will be resolved by the commissioner to the best of his ability. If the situation involves the commissioner, then it will be resolved by the co-commissioner.
Good luck and have fun !!!
