Sister Claire Rodrigue

Holy Rosary Catholic School first opened its doors to students in the fall of 1963. Unfortunately, due to construction, the doors that were opened for these early classes were that of the Larose Volunteer Fire Department. The present school building was not completed until 1964, but this drawback was minuscule in the eyes of Sister Claire Rodrigue and the sisters of Immaculate Conception.

The first class of Holy Rosary had an enrollment of 42 students. They were  taught by a faculty of two. By the second year the population grew to 132 children and by five teachers. Today we are proud of the 358 students in K through sixth grade and 84 pre K, bound together by a faculty and staff of 41.

Through the years, we survived the fire station, temporary buildings, portable buildings, and other hardships. With the construction of the new building we enjoy a pleasant educational and Christian atmosphere.   The now facility houses the library, four classrooms, Principal's office and other offices.  Other facilities include classrooms, offices, cafeteria, resource and computer lab and pre-K classroom.

For a reminder of our roots, we only have to look 100 yards down the street to the Larose Fire Station and thank God for our blessings.

Sister Claire has a B.S. degree from Dominican College. She served as the first Principal of HR for 23 years and is presently Religious Coordinator.
